Petersburg ex-Deputy Nesterova left under house arrest
The former member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg from the Edinaya Rossiya party Svetlana Nesterova remained under house arrest until December 20 by the decision of the St. Petersburg City Court, Rosbalt reported.
The defense petitioned to change the preventive measure on bail, but the court upheld the decision on house arrest.
Earlier, the Krasnogvardeyskiy District Court extended the house arrest of the former Deputy, who was charged under part 3 of Art. 33, part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (Organization of the Theft of another's property by deception by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, using his official position on a large scale) for three months.
Svetlana Nesterova was arrested on June 21 after a search in her apartment. According to the materials of the criminal case, the Deputy of the Legislative Assembly for the period from June 2013 to December 2014 organized the theft of funds from the budget of St. Petersburg. Money was intended for reimbursement of costs for the implementation of social programs for the disabled and pensioners. The group nature of the crime is explained due to the fact that Nesterova engaged her assistants Vera Shishkina and Tatiana Kitova, nd her friend Svetlana Hasanova in theft.
The retired security official and two of his subordinates are suspected of an attempt to receive 31.5 million rubles ($470,610) from a construction company for its participation in the corporation’s tender.
