Person of interest in case of Belykh told how Governor extorted bribes
The owner of the Novovyatskiy Ski Factory (NLK) Yuri Zudhaymer personally came to the FSB at Lubyanka, when he once again was subjected to extortion by Nikita Belykh.
Zudhaymer, who handed Belykh a package with money in a Moscow restaurant, is the key person of interest in the case of taking bribes by the Governor of the Kirov Region. Today he told Reuters the back story of Belykh’s detention.
The businessman said that before he gave money to Belykh twice: 200 thousand Euros in 2014 and 50 thousand in 2016.
When the Governor demanded money again (€ 150 thousand Euros "for the elections"), Zudhaymer, he said, realized that "this lawlessness will never end, and went to the FSB."
According to Reuters, in 2010-2011, the Novovyatskiy Ski Factory received a loan of $ 14 million from Sberbank. Then, the owner of the factory was a businessman Albert Laritsky.
The new owner Zudhaymer, according to him, did not know anything about NLK’s obligations to Sberbank. So, he was quite surprised when Belykh demanded to pay back the loans. According to the businessman, the former Governor of the Kirov Region "cornered him with requirements on loans and reminders of the pledges." In addition, according to the businessman, Belykh demanded money from him, "for the elections" in 2014. For the amount received, Belykh promised to help Factory, but this did not happen.
After the FSB instructed Zudhaymer how to carry the banknotes treated with a special liquid, the businessman handed them to the Governor in a Moscow restaurant.
"In the restaurant, there was a second when I thought I should stop Nikita. Before he took the package, I would say to him - no, do not, do not take it", Zudhaymer admitted.
Nevertheless, the transfer of the bribe took place, after which, Belykh was taken red-handed by the FSB and ICR officers.
It is to be recalled that on 24th of June, the Governor of the Kirov Region Nikita Belykh was caught red-handed in Moscow when receiving a piece of a bribe of 400 thousand euros. According to the investigation, the Governor, for a bribe, provided protection to the Novovyatskiy Ski Factory and Lesokhozyaystvennaya upravlyayushyaya kompaniya (Forest management company) LLC.
First, Belykh was arrested by the court for two months, and then, the arrest was extended until December 24. On July 28, the President Vladimir Putin sacked Belykh from the position of the Governor of the Kirov Region in connection with the loss of confidence.
Rosfinmonitoring (Federal Financial Monitoring Service) analyzed the data of the Panama Papers and the Paradise Papers and discovered thousands of offshore companies through which the Russians laundered billions of rubles. Materials on deputies and governors were handed over to law enforcers.
A spokesperson of the Prosecutor's office said that the ECHR had not studied all the materials of the criminal case, so they were offered not to overturn the verdict, but to send the case for a new review in court.
