Orel police Lieutenant Colonel caught in bribery
The policeman allegedly received money for the refusal to initiate a criminal case.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Sergey Leonov is detained red-handed when receiving 100.000 rubles from a local resident "for refusal to initiate the criminal case over organizing and conducting illegal gambling activities," the ICR press service reports. Leonov holds the position of Head of the Department of District Commissioners and Juvenile Affairs No. 3 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Orel.
Leonov was detained on July 2 with the support of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB. The investigating authorities initiated a criminal case for Attempted Swindling (part 3 of Article 30, part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Acting Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrey Tokarev conducted an official inspection against Leonov.
