Officials who testified on Ulyukaev might become accomplices
The court left the former Economic Development Minister under house arrest, forbade him to even take a walk around the house in order to avoid meeting with witnesses in the case.
The Moscow Basmanny Court extended the house arrest for former Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukaev, who is accused of bribe-taking, for three months.
During the hearing, at the request of the investigation on the extension of the arrest to the former Minister, ICR representative Roman Nesterov said that Ulyukaev, as before, could hamper the progress of case and destroy evidence. The investigator said that some of the witnesses in the case work in the Ministry of Economic Development and Federal Property Management Agency; they were directly subordinate to the suspect. Meanwhile, Nesterov said that the officials, who gave evidence during the investigation, could become suspects. The investigator said that law enforcement agencies have the phone records of involved in the case, phonographic examination would be carried out on them. What conversations in question it is not specified. Previously, Rosbalt wrote that the basis for the case became Ulyukaev's talks with the head of one of the state banks, during which Ulyukaev complained about the lack of money thanks for his work.
The prosecution insisted on the extension of the house arrest and non-derogation of the preventive measures, fearing that Ulyukaev could meet with witnesses and exert influence on them. The representative of the ICR also noted in the court that the extension of the house arrest is necessary due to the extension of the case’s investigation until 15 May.
The Minister, who does not admit his guilt, disagreed with the arguments of the investigation. "I have no possibility to escape, my passport was confiscated," - said the ex-Minister. Ulyukaev’s lawyer asked to allow her client two-hour walk in the morning and evening, as well as scheduled visits to medical facilities, based on the doctor's recommendations.
In addition, the court has attached positive characteristics of Ulyukaev, which were made by Rosnano Board Chairman Anatoly Chubais, head of VTB Andrey Kostin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin and Vladimir Mau, the Rector of RANHiGS.
Earlier, Chubais emotionally reacted to the arrest of Ulyukaev. "For us, who know Alexey Ulyukaev for more than 30 years, this accident is an absolute shock," - the general director of Rosnano wrote on his page on Facebook.
As the CrimeRussia previously reported, Alexey Ulyukaev was detained on the night of November 15th. The investigation alleges that the official was detained red-handed while taking a bribe of $ 2 million for protection to Rosneft in the sale of Bashneft’s shares. The Minister is charged under part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code. It is known that Ulyukaev has been on hook of the FSB operatives in a few months, and with the approval of the court, they wiretapped his conversations.
Police officers took Kristina Morozova to a police station to check her identity, where she ended up getting a closed craniocerebral injury, minor cerebral contusion, fissure fracture of her cheekbone, fracture of her left sphenoid bone, and large leg bruise.
Viktor Trutnev, ex-Head of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department, has finished his career ‘in style’ – he went to jail. The Moscow Garrison Military Court has recently detained the retired general for the duration of the investigation. The former police commander is accused of mediation in bribery and bribe extortion. Trutnev was turned in by his former accomplices – FSB officers trying to extort 3 million rubles ($52.3 thousand) from the Director of Snegirev Research Technological Institute in exchange for covering up violations identified at the enterprise.
