Novosibirsk: official judged for regional record bribe of 53 million rubles
At the first hearing the former Deputy of the Bolotninsky District requested the disqualification of an illiterate judge and a secretary of judicial session because of personal interest. According to the accused, he had an intimate relationship with the secretary of judicial session in one of the Novosibirsk night clubs.
In the Zaeltsovsky Novosibirsk district court the trial of former Deputy of the Bolotninsky District Alexander Yurkevich began. He was charged with Bribe-Taking on an especially large scale (part 6, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code). Regional media called received by Yurkevich a bribe of 53 million rubles a record for the region.
At the beginning of the first hearing the ex-officer immediately asked for Marina Matienko recusation, who, in his opinion, is an "illiterate employee, incompetent and interested, allowing flagrant violations of the Criminal Code, deliberately going for a violation." Saying this, Yurkevich, probably, had in mind the fact that Matienko attained the verdict against the businessman Dmitry Petrov. He was sentenced to 4 years prison for the scandalous charges of embezzling budgetary 2.7 million rubles allocated for the international forum Interra. Petrov has repeatedly declared his innocence. Yurkevich himself was present at the court in a jacket with words Freedom to Petrov and requested to allow the convicted businessman to participate in his trial as a public defender.

In addition, the 36-year-old former officer asked for recusation of the secretary of judicial session because he had intimate connection with her earlier in one of the Novosibirsk night clubs. However, the judge rejected both requests on the challenge.
During the hearing the indictment was announced. According to investigators, in 2013 the co-founder of the construction firm AN Region-Invest Nikolai Rodionov turned to the official requesting to acquire 200 hectares of land for the construction of a cottage settlement. For assistance Yurkevich asked the merchant 60 million rubles, but in the end they made a deal to 53 million for the land in the territory of the Oyashinskiy village. In November of that year the official received a bribe from Rodionov. Yurkevich was arrested only on April 1, 2015. The reason for this was the appeal of the entrepreneur, whom the official did not assist in the allocation of land.
After hearing the accusation, Yurkevich said that he did not understand the essence of the charges and he believeв the case was forged.
"I could not assist, what does the word “assist” mean? - NGS.Novosti quoted the words of ex-official. - In my duties the land issue does not include. And I am not an official in the sense as stated in the indictment. The indictment is abstract and vague, there is no corpus delicti. Please, return the case to the Prosecutor."
The judge denied the Yurkevich's petition to return the case to the Prosecutor.
The next hearing will be held on 1 November, the defense will announce its version.
