Nizhny Novgorod Mayor's greed: no money for gifts, just for real estate in Miami
Results of Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Ivan Karnilin’s polygraph test are disclosed.
A senior official passed lie-detector test on the Miami real estate issue within the television program Tsentralnoe Televidenie (Central Television) on NTV. Journalists take interest in Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod when the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) found out two undeclared apartments in Miami registered on his ex-wife.
The Mayor assured television journalists that the real estate in America was a valuable asset of his family. The official reminded that the apartments were bought in 2013-2014, when the dollar was worth 30 rubles. According to him, an investment paid off, because today one US dollar is equivalent to 60 rubles.
Connected to a polygraph Karnilin answered the question whether his divorce with a wife was a fiction. The Mayor replied: "No." The device showed that the official was telling the truth about his quarrel with the wife in the spring of 2015 just before taking office as the Mayor.
The Head of Nizhny Novgorod was also asked whether the purpose of the divorce was the possibility not to declare the property and hide the real estate in Miami; Karnilin replied in the negative and the polygraph was considered it true.
The official answered ambiguously when asked whether he supports family relationship with the ex-wife.
"We are dating. We are trying to improve relations," - said Ivan Karnilin. The Mayor chose to fudge an issue; the polygraph recognized the answer as false.
The Head of Nizhny Novgorod was asked additional questions.
"Do you have a hard parting with gifts to relatives?" – Karnilin was asked at the end of the test. The Mayor replied in the negative, but the polygraph had caught him in a lie.
Recall, the FBK found two apartments worth $ 824 thousand and $ 1.1 million in Miami, which were acquired in the name of Albina Karnilinova – the wife of the Mayor. In addition, in the Florida's property papers the Mayor's daughter, Irina Ovchinnikova, is listed.
At the same time, in the income statement the Mayor it does not specify his US real estate and his wife's income, because they divorced before his appointment. According to him, both apartments in the United States were bought during his work in a commercial entity.

In Yakutsk, some outlets are closed, and transport communication is partially interrupted. A delegation from Kyrgyzstan arrived to defuse the conflict, but xenophobic sentiments are gaining momentum. Local security officials argue that the situation is under control, and detain violators promptly. Is it revenge for the victim or a surge of Yakut nationalism? The CrimeRussia restored the chronology of events and tried to find out what is happening in Yakutia.
