Nikita Belykh denies his guilt
The governor of the Kirov region that was arrested in a Moscow restaurant for receiving a bribe yesterday evening refused to admit his guilt.
Nikita Belykh announced that yesterday to journalists in the Basmanny Court, where he was taken from the Investigative Committee for the trial.
However, due to the facts that after 10 pm hearings are not held and the case files were not yet transferred to the court, the question on election of a preventive measure for the governor will be decided today, June 25th.
It is worth noting that the statement of Belykh regarding his innocence wasn’t official. It was a short "No" to the question of the press about whether he acknowledges his guilt or not.
The representative of the Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, informed media yesterday at 6.30 pm that against the Kirov’s governor proceedings were instituted under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code.
According to the investigation, Belykh personally and earlier through his accomplices in two tranсhes received a total of 400 thousand euros for connivance in the implementation of government control over two investment projects: JSC "Novovyatskiy ski plant" and LLC "Forestry management company."
The arrest was done at the moment of transfer of the second part of the amount.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) had seen plenty of scandals throughout its history. In the end of 2017, it ceased financing of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on suspicion of misuse of funds by its management. However, the IOC couldn’t even think that international drug trafficker Gafur Rakhimov, member of the criminal ‘Brothers’ Circle’ put on the OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List, is going to take charge of it soon. Furthermore, Rakhimov has contributed greatly to the selection of Sochi the place of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Kochkin is detained in the headquarters building and brought to the police department, where policemen drew up a protocol under Violating the Established Procedure for Arranging or Conducting a Meeting, Rally, Demonstration, Procession or Picket (part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). According to the activist, in the near future he will go on trial.
