The owner of a large construction business, Dmitry Smychkovsky, handed over a used Jeep Wrangler car to the silovik as a reward.
What formed the basis for new accusations of corruption against the ex-Head of the Main Directorate for Interdepartmental Cooperation and Internal Security of the Investigative Committee (ICR), Mikhail Maksimenko, became known. According to Kommersant, one of the episodes concerns extorting bribes from the owner of a large construction business, Dmitry Smychkovsky. Previously, he was known as a member of the Board of Directors of AIM Property Development. The FSB believe that as a reward the developer gave Colonel Maksimenko a used Jeep Wrangler car, estimated at 1.5 million rubles ($25.2 thousand), which falls under part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code.
In addition, the investigation is verifying if the former high-ranking employee of the ICR receives a bribe in the form of elite breed puppies. However, his lawyers denied this information.
The day before it became known that the FSB brought a new charge of bribe-taking against Mikhail Maksimenko. It refers to the amount of 1 million in the ruble equivalent ($16.8 thousand), RIA Novosti reports citing sources. According to them, testimony against Maksimenko was given by ‘authoritative’ businessman Badri Shengeliya. He allegedly gave Maksimenko the amount in dollars for initiating a criminal case on the theft of elite Hublot watches from the entrepreneur.
Now the investigators are interrogating Maksimenko's subordinates, whom he sent to St. Petersburg with a check on the case of the watches theft. According to Fontanka, the Hublot watches were seized from Shengeliya by law enforcers after the dispersal of the thieves' gathering in November 2014. About 30 people gathered at restaurant Nevskaya Zhemchuzhina on Obukhovskaya Oborona Avenue. Among them was thief in law Malkhaz Kotua (Makho Ochamchirsky).
Badri Shengeliya is known as a witness in a number of criminal cases on illegal seizure of buildings against St. Petersburg ‘authoritative’ entrepreneur Vladimir Barsukov (Kumarin). Shengeliya confirmed that he was a suspect in giving a bribe to Maksimenko. Lawyer Andrey Grivtsov informed that he had not been officially notified of a new case against his client.
Earlier, Mikhail Maksimenko was accused of bribe-taking from one of the most influential thieves in law – Zakhar Kalashov (Shakro Molodoy).
