Moscow Region: district prosecutor quits due to illegal garbage dumps
Employees of the supervisory body have conspired with unscrupulous businessmen and police officers covering them.
Prosecutor of the Troitsky Administrative District of Moscow Mikhail Voshchinsky resigned after a meeting with the superiors because of illegal landfills. Employees of the prosecutor’s office, traffic police and Armenian businessmen involved in garbage collection were involved in a criminal conspiracy, Kommersant writes.
In December 2018, internal security officers of the MIA’s Main Directorate for Moscow revealed three traffic police officers who escorted trucks with construction waste which was unloaded on the outskirts of the district. The participants in the criminal scheme discussed financial and other issues on their phones, the records of which have become one of the main evidence of their guilt.
The investigation involved the FSB and the ICR. The security forces detained nine people, including car inspectors, among whom the police captain was the senior. The investigating authorities initiated a criminal case on illegal business (Article 171 CCRF). One of the businessmen was placed under house arrest; the policemen were fired.
