Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology exposes embezzlement by former employees of Ministry of Education
The Institute confirmed it was developing a device for wireless examination of human body.
Employees of the Institute were in fact developing a device for wireless examination of human body. The Department placed a public procurement order for development of such a device in 2014. However, OOO (a type of company, translator’s note) Avtomatizatsiya Tekhnologicheskikh Proektov – Krim, a partner and co-investor, declined services of the Institute, according to the Institute Office of Public Affairs as quoted by the life.ru.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation is investigating possible embezzlement by the Department management, as earlier reported. The damage was estimated at 127 million rubles. It was Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilieva who initiated the investigation.
Former Department Director Sergey Salikhov and his Deputy Aleksey Antropov are suspected of embezzlement among others, according to First Deputy Prosecutor General Aleksandr Buksman’s answer to the Minister.
Lieutenant General Oleg Troshin announced he is going to retire in May 2018. He is doing it following a decision taken a year ago – not due to non-existent issues with the agency reported by some local media outlets.
