Sports Minister of Orenburg Region Oleg Pivunov detained
The Minister of physical culture, sport and tourism of the Orenburg Region Oleg Pivunov suspected of tax evasion is detained in Orenburg.
This was reported by the media service of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Orenburg Region.
On October 25 it became known that several criminal cases are initiated against Pivunov, who from 2011 to 2013 headed autonomous nonprofit organization Sport club Yuzhny Ural and evaded payment of means in off-budget funds.
According to materials of the case on tax evasion, the damage, which the defendant caused to the state estimated at more than 26 million rubles.
Besides, the regional Sports Minister is suspected of abuse of official powers from 2014 to 2016, for the fact that he allowed two deputies and his families gratuitously live in the leased apartments, for which Nadezhda basketball club was paying. In this case, the damage is estimated at 2 million rubles.
It is reported that the cases against Pivunov are consolidated in common production.
Investigation continues, the detainee is already interrogated by the investigation, he denies the guilt. The question of measure of restraint appointment to Pivunov is being considered.
Rosfinmonitoring (Federal Financial Monitoring Service) analyzed the data of the Panama Papers and the Paradise Papers and discovered thousands of offshore companies through which the Russians laundered billions of rubles. Materials on deputies and governors were handed over to law enforcers.
A spokesperson of the Prosecutor's office said that the ECHR had not studied all the materials of the criminal case, so they were offered not to overturn the verdict, but to send the case for a new review in court.
