MIA: average bribe in Moscow region increased by 3.5 times in 2016
The average size of a bribe to the official amounted to more than one million rubles in the Moscow region.
The size of a bribe in the Moscow increased by 3.5 times and exceeded one million rubles in 2016. On Wednesday, 25 January, Deputy Chief of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Management of the CB MIA in the region Alexander Bukovsky told that journalists.
According to him, only last year 76 cases of bribe to various officials were identified, as well as 16 facts of the bribery mediation. In addition, 337 official crimes were registered, more than 250 people brought to responsibility in the region.
Earlier, the State Duma of the Russian Federation has claimed, they do not believe the data of the three-fold increase in the size of bribes due to the ruble devaluation.
Larisa Markus, ex-President of failed Foreign Economic Industrial Bank (Vneshprombank) made a deal with the investigation and named her brother Georgy Bedzhamov the mastermind behind the embezzlements and siphoning off funds from the bank. Was there an arrangement between the relatives–bankers on who shall demonstratively go to jail and who shall take the blame for all the crimes and abscond abroad with stolen billions of rubles? Vneshprombank co-owner Georgy Bedzhamov is currently beyond the reach of law enforcement structures and creditors. Perhaps, it is now time for everybody to forget about the fugitive banker? Especially taking that, according to The CrimeRussia sources, some persons are interested in ruining the case against Bedzhamov.
