Mayor from Kuzbass detained after receiving bribe
The official says that he borrowed the money from the entrepreneur.
The mayor of the Berezovsky Urban District in Kuzbass, Dmitry Titov, was detained at the exit from the building of a commercial organization, where he allegedly received a 280,000 rubles ($ 4,200) bribe from an entrepreneur. The court ordered on taking the mayor into custody, spokeswoman of ICR’s Investigative Directorate for the Kemerovo Region Nadezhda Ananyeva reported.
The law enforcement officers found the mentioned sum of money when they searched Titov during the detention on January 16. According to the latter, he borrowed the money. In addition, a non-lethal pistol was seized from the official, and workplace was searched. The next day, the court imposed a pre-trial preventive measure against the mayor.
Titov came to the administration of Berezovsky in 2011, became its head two years later and then was re-elected for a second term in 2018.
