Management of Komienergo branch detained on suspicion of bribery
According to the investigation, the director general of Inter-Regional High-Voltage Grid Company (MRSK) Severo-Zapad (director of the Komienergo branch) and his deputy received more than 5 million rubles ($81.200) from representatives of commercial organizations for unimpeded acceptance and payment of work.
The director general of MRSK Severo-Zapad (the director of the Komienergo branch), as well as his deputy, was detained in the case of commercial bribery amounting to more than 5 million rubles, the press service of the ICR department for the Republic of Komi informs. According to investigators, the detainees received money from representatives of commercial organizations for unimpeded acceptance and payment of work for MRSK Severo-Zapad.
It is reported that the detainees have already been charged with Commercial Bribery on an especially large scale, committed by a group of persons on a preliminary conspiracy (part 8 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). They face up to 12 years in prison.
The BNK agency reports that director of the Komienergo branch Valery Dryaidt was arrested by the Syktyvkar City Court for 2 months, and his deputy Evgeny Sesyuk is placed under house arrest. According to the agency, Dryaidt and Sesyuk were detained on April 13. On the same day, Dryaidt resigned as head of the branch.
The structure of MRSK Severo-Zapad includes 7 branches - Arkhenergo, Karelenergo, Kolenergo, Komienergo, Pskovenergo, Novgorodenergo and Vologdaenergo. From April 1, 2008, MRSK Severo-Zapad acts as a unified operating company. The company's service area is 1.58 million square kilometers with a population of about 6.3 million people.
