Makhachkala acting Mayor detained at his workplace, suspected of stealing $606.3 thousand

Security officials have detained the acting Mayor of Makhachkala, Abusupyan Gasanov, TASS pens with reference to its sources.
The official was rounded up in his office, the agency’s interlocutors specify, adding that he is suspected of exceeding his authority.
“After operational activities were completed, Gasanov was detained in the framework of a criminal case on exceeding authority,” one of the interlocutors close to the security agencies said.
At the same time, Interfax’s sources said that the investigators believe Gasanov was involved in the embezzlement of 40 million ($606.3 thousand) of public funds in January of this year.
Earlier, information about the searches in the administration of Makhachkala appeared in the media. The press service of the city hall stated that the administration of the city of Makhachkala continues to work in a regular mode and is not aware of the purpose of the visit of law enforcement officers.
