Life correspondent, who filmed Sechin and Kostin's game of billiards, to testify upon Ulyukaev's case
Earlier, with reference to sources, it was reported that the mediator of ex-Minister Ulyukaev, while demanding a bribe from Sechin, was allegedly an old friend of both, VTB President Andrey Kostin.
The correspondent of Life, Alexander Yunashev, was summoned to trial by ex-Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukaev as a witness. As the newspaper reports, the investigation had earlier requested video footage made during the BRICS summit in Goa in the autumn of 2016. Journalists witnessed the game of billiards of head of Rosneft Igor Sechin and head of VTB Andrey Kostin. At that moment Alexey Ulyukaev was nearby. It was at the summit in Goa where the official allegedly extorted a bribe.
When the journalist asked what bets are made between the players, Kostin joked that they are playing on oil rigs. Later he reported that Sechin won the game, with a devastating score.
Recall previously reported that the intermediary of Ulyukaev, while demanding a bribe from Sechin, was allegedly the old friend of both, VTB President Andrey Kostin. According to sources, the Minister was allegedly dissatisfied with the fact that VTB-Bank received $30 million from the budget for the organization of privatization of Bashneft and reported his dissatisfaction with Kostin. Also, Ulyukaev asked to inform Sechin that it is necessary to reward employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Federal Property Management Agency, who were engaged in executing the transaction on the privatization of Bashneft.
Alexey Ulyukaev was detained on November 14, 2016 near the office of Rosneft in Moscow. He is charged with receiving a bribe of $2 million from Igor Sechin. According to the accusation, the Head of the Ministry of Economic Development extorted money for having the Ministry issued a positive conclusion on the purchase of 50.08% of Bashneft from the state to Rosneft.
Ulyukaev said that the FSB and Igor Sechin allegedly organized a provocation with the transfer of a large sum of money. On the eve the head of Rosneft said that he did not doubt the guilt of Ulyukaev.
"The following scheme was implemented by Ulyukaev: he himself demanded an illegal reward for his usual work. He himself determined the level of this reward. He himself came to get this reward. He took the bag himself, so he put keesters in the car. And he left. That's all. And in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation this is a crime, especially for an official," Sechin also said.
