Kuzbass: Rostekhnadzor inspector caught on $318 bribe
The official received money from an entrepreneur.
Investigation of a case against an inspector of Rostekhnadzor (Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision) from Kuzbass has been finished. The investigation concluded that the official had received 20 thousand rubles ($318) in October, 2018.
The bribe was taken from a local entrepreneur for issuing of a facility permit of a heating plant he owned. Initially, the inspector refused to issue the permit under the pretext of the incomplete pack of documents.
The entrepreneur hired an expert to gather all the necessary papers, but again, the inspector stated that the pack had been incomplete. As a result, the official offered to “settle an issue” for 20 thousand rubles ($318).
He prepared the permit for the entrepreneur and once again reminded him of the money. He asked to render it in a bag in order for the colleagues not to notice anything. Then, the businessman turned to law enforcement. Transferring of the bribe was carried out under control of the Federal Security Service. The accused pleads not guilty.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
