Krasnoyarsk officials spent public money on household appliances instead of gifts for veterans

A criminal case has been opened against employees with the Ministry of Social Policy of the region.

Several female officials of the government of Krasnoyarsk Krai became the defendants of a criminal case of Swindling on a large scale, committed through official position (part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code), the press service of the ICR’s Directorate in the region reports on Friday.

The number of defendants is not specified. It is only known that all of them are employees of the Ministry of Social Policy of the region. According to the investigation, the officials spent the public funds allocated for the purchase of gifts to veterans on household appliances for themselves.

A contract worth upwards of 2 million rubles was concluded through a firm owned by the brother-in-law of one of the officials.

Earlier, the local portal NGS informed that in early October, the Ministry of Social Policy of the region had been searched. On November 8, according to the resource, the former First Deputy Minister of Social Policy of the region, Natalya Kolyagina, the former Head of the Veterans Affairs Department, Olga Gileva, and two of her relatives were summoned to an interrogation by the FSB.
