The investigation believes that a house considered an architecture monument had been given away for unauthorized construction.

Igor Mazurok, the Krasnodar head of the Department for Architecture and Urban Planning has been detained. According to Kommersant’s sources in law enforcement agencies, the local department has already been searched and the documents have been seized.

The newspaper writes that a criminal case has been instituted against Mazurok, who is believed to have issued illegal documentation for the construction of a residential building in the city of Sochi. Officials of the leading construction companies of the Kuban were detained along with Mazurok.

The investigation believes that a house considered an architecture monument had been given away for unauthorized construction.

Earlier it was reported that the Sochi vice mayor Mugdin Chermit had been detained in the case. Kommersant’s sources said that FSB was questioning all the detainees. The criminal case against Chermit was initiated under Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Exceeding Official Powers).
