Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District Deputy Mayor gets arrested over 1.5-million bribe
The ICR Investigations Directorate in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District pressed criminal charges against the Langepas Deputy Mayor.
According to the Investigative Committee’s public affairs office, the Deputy Mayor is suspected of taking a bribe on a considerable scale.
The Investigative Committee officers searched the public servant’s house and office, confiscating money and documents related to the criminal case opened under part 6 of Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code (Bribe-Taking on an especially large scale).
The suspect demanded 1.5 million rubles from the CEO of one of the local private companies for providing them services, according to the investigators. He received some of the money (1 million rubles) in June and August.
Rosfinmonitoring (Federal Financial Monitoring Service) analyzed the data of the Panama Papers and the Paradise Papers and discovered thousands of offshore companies through which the Russians laundered billions of rubles. Materials on deputies and governors were handed over to law enforcers.
A spokesperson of the Prosecutor's office said that the ECHR had not studied all the materials of the criminal case, so they were offered not to overturn the verdict, but to send the case for a new review in court.
