Khakassia: case of Exceeding Official Powers initiated against district head who attacked journalist
According to the investigation, Sergey Zaitsev registrered a land plot in the name of his acquaintance, which was later bought over for 5 million rubles ($78,975).
A criminal case of Exceeding Official Powers with serious consequences (item ‘c’ part 3 of Art. 286 of the Russian Criminal Code) has been initiated against Head of Shirinsky strict, Republic of Khakassia, Sergey Zaitsev, who attacked a VGTRK journalist Ivan Litomin. This is reported by the regional ICR Investigations Directorate's press service.
According to the investigation, Zaitsev registered a land plot intended for the construction of a landfill for solid household waste in the name of his acquaintance. Later, the plot was donated to another person, then to new owners, and then was eventually bought over for 5 million rubles.
The damage to the budget of the Shirinsky district is estimated at 6 million rubles ($94,800). Apart from Zaitsev, defendants in the case also include some unidentified persons. The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
