Investigator for Sugrobov and Mikhalchenko's cases gets promoted
Sergey Novikov was appointed senior investigator for particularly important cases under the chairman of the ICR.
Colonel Sergey Novikov, who led the investigation into the case of Denis Sugrobov, was promoted to senior investigator for particularly important cases under the chairman of the ICR, RIA Novosti reports.
Recall the resounding case of the ex-head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Combating Corruption (GUEBiPK) Denis Sugrobov was considered by the Moscow City Court. Persons involved in the case were charged with organizing a criminal community using their official position, abuse of power, and provocation of bribes. The case involved more than 10 employees of GUEBiPK. According to investigators, Sugrobov and his accomplices falsified criminal cases of bribery and fraud. In total, 29 people were prosecuted in these cases. 18 of them have been detained for a long time. As a result, Denis Sugrobov received 12 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony.
In addition, Novikov investigated another high-profile case of the businessman from St. Petersburg Dmitry Mikhalchenko. He was accused of smuggling elite alcohol and was sentenced by the court to 4 years.
