The Deputy Head of the Main Investigative Directorate (MID) of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) for Moscow, Denis Nikandrov, stated in court that he had married in 2017, although he has been in the pretrial detention center for over a year on suspicion of bribe-taking.

Arrested in the case on bribe-taking on an especially large scale, Denis Nikandrov said that he had married earlier this year before the start of the court session. Today, the Moscow City Court is holding hearings, treating the issue of extending Nikandrov's arrest.

"I have been married since 2017," Nikandrov said before the start of the trial in the Moscow City Court, which considers extension of his arrest.

ICR General Denis Nikandrov was arrested back in July 2016 on suspicion of taking a large bribe. All this time the silovik spent in the detention center, and given this, it follows that the man could only get married in the temporary holding facility.

According to the investigation, the Deputy Head of the Moscow ICR's Directorate Nikandrov, together with the Head of the Interdepartmental Interaction and Internal Security Department of the ICR, Mikhail Maksimenko and his deputy, Alexander Lamonov, received a bribe from criminal authority Zakhar Kalashov (Shakro Molodoy) for the release of his accomplice Andrey Kochuykov, dubbed Italianets.

Earlier, Rosbalt reported that the amount of the bribe totaled 5 million euros, but the siloviki were given only a part of it - 500 thousand dollars. Evgeny Surzhikov, former employee of the Russian Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, who acted as head of Kalashov's security service, allegedly turned to his former subordinate in the Interior Ministry, Denis Bogorodetsky, who in 2016 served as Deputy Head of the ICR's Internal Security Directorate. He informed Lamonov about the proposal, and the latter involved Nikandrov and Maksimenko in there solution of the issue.

Prior to this, the Moscow City Court on October 17, having considered the petition of the investigative authorities in closed mode, without the media and listeners, extended the arrest term of Alexander Lamonov, Deputy Head of the ICR's Internal Security Directorate, for three months and on October 16 the court extended the arrest of Mikhail Maksimenko, head of the Directorate, until January 19, 2018.
