Investigation of Gaizer’s case to be completed in January 2017
The Investigation Committee of Russia will complete legal investigation of case of former Head of the Komi Republic Vyacheslav Gaizer in January, 2017, Chairman of the ICR Alexander Bastrykin told in an interview to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The Head of the Investigative Committee reminded that in total 18 people were brought to trial within the case over Organized Criminal Grouping (OCG) in the management of the Volga Republic. Those are former heads of the republic Torlopov and Gaizer, Deputy Head Chernov, Chairman of the State Council Kovzel, Vice-President of the Government Romadanov and some other officials and entrepreneurs, Bastrykin listed.
Several days earlier Svetlana Petrenko, acting as Head of the Department of the ICR on Interaction with media already reported that investigation of criminal cases of ex-governors Gaizer and Khoroshavin on charges of swindle and organization of OCG concerning the former Head of Komi and and in taking of a bribe – against Aleksandr Khoroshavin, is at the final stage.
A native of Grozny Lors Khamiev, who has served several years for preparing an attempt on Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, has been arrested by court along with another defendant. They have already been charged with the murder of Azerbaijani Garib Orudzhev during the night of February 15.
The high-profile shootout in Oko Tower in November 2017 – at least, 40 gunshots were fired there – has led to unexpected consequences a year later. Seven high-ranked investigators of the Main Investigations Directorate in the City of Moscow of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR) have submitted a collective resignation letter, and the inquest into the incident in Moscow City International Business Center was resumed. In fact, this chain of events resembles another firefight that had occurred in 2015 near Elements Restaurant on Rochdelskaya street, Moscow and also resulted in a number of high-profile criminal cases against senior ICR officials and incarceration of ‘thief № 1’ Shakro Molodoy.
