Interior Ministry checking several ministries amid corruption scandal during plant construction in Ingushetia
The Main Directorate for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption is checking the treasury, the Ministries of Construction and Property and Land Relations of the republic.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs is probing into the implementation of state contracts in the Ingush authorities following reports on possible violations.
According to TASS sources, the Main Directorate for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption began checks with the federal treasury department. Then the operatives visited the Ministries of Property and Land Relations and Construction.
The implementation of one of the contracts aroused a special suspicion of law enforcement agencies. The republic should have already commissioned a cluster for the production of glass containers in Sagopshi, for which almost 795 million rubles ($12.3 m) were allocated from the federal and regional budgets. Construction of facilities is not completed yet.
Inspectors are to establish signs of a crime, and if there are any, cases against the ministries and contractors will be passed to the Investigative Committee.
On the other hand, there are public activists who call on residents of the region to write applications with the Prosecutor General’s Office, demanding a check of the glass factory.
