Head of the regional directorate of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Lonsky has been detained in the Novgorod region. According to the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia, he is suspected of taking a bribe on a large scale (item 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigation theory is that Lonsky received 300 thousand rubles ($4.7 thousand) and a cognac bottle worth of 3999 rubles ($62) from a director of a company “tied to road freight transport.” For this, the head of the STSI arranged escort of a truck that carried oversize cargo along the territory of the Novgorod region by a patrol vehicle of the State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate.
