Head of Khabarovsk road department busted on corruption gets arrested
Oleg Groo was taken in custody after receiving 4 million rubles ($62,740).
In Khabarovsk, law enforcers have detained Head of the Directorate of Roads and External Improvement of the City Administration, Oleg Groo. Investigators believe the official has received a bribe of 4 million rubles. This is reported on the website of the ICR in the Khabarovsk region on Monday.
A criminal case under part 6 of Art. 290 (Bribe-Taking on an Especially Large Scale) has been initiated against Groo. His place of residence and work is being searched.
A representative of the Central District Court of Khabarovsk told RIA Novosti that Groo is arrested until September 3. He was detained on Friday, July 5.
In turn, Mayor of Khabarovsk, Sergey Kravchuk, stated that he had already signed a decree on Groo’s dismissal, since he did not intend to wait until the end of the investigation and trial.
“The accusations against him are very serious and, possibly, substantiated. I won’t not tolerate the Khabarovsk city administration being associated with the illegal activities of its employees,” the mayor stressed.
