Head of drug department of Polevskoy police, Sverdlovsk region, detained for bribery
The police officer demanded 300,000 rubles ($4,500) from one of the local residents for the “resolution of an issue” in a criminal case.
On February 15, operatives of the Bureau of Internal Affairs of Main Directorate of the MIA for the Sverdlovsk Region detained the head of the department for the control of drug trafficking of Polevskoy MIA Directorate.
It is reported by Vecherniye Vedomosti with reference to its own sources in the power structures of the region.
According to the newspaper, the police officer demanded 300,000 rubles ($4,500) from a local resident for “resolving an issue” in a criminal case.
The detainee gave the necessary confessions for the investigation. He has signed acknowledgement of travel restriction. Next week, materials regarding him will be handed over to the ICR, the newspaper writes.
It is worth noting that at the end of December 2018, the Organized Crime Division officers, Criminal Investigation Department officers and officers of the Bureau of Internal Affairs of Main Directorate of the MIA for the Sverdlovsk Region detained deputy head of the Migration Department of the Polevskoy MIA Directorate Sergey Galishchev. He is suspected of crimes, punishment for which is provided for by paragraph “a” Part 2 of Art. 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of illegal migration by a group of persons by prior agreement or by an organized group").
