Head of the Kortkeros District Administration of Komi Vasily Goncharenko has been arrested on suspicion of corruption. The official was detained on May 25, and then he was placed in custody.
The investigation believes that in February 2018, the district head demanded half a million rubles from a local businessman in exchange for protection. In May, the businessman gave the official 300 thousand rubles ($4,822). The official was detained when receiving the rest of the money.
May 26, the Syktyvkar City Court elected a two-month detention as preventive measure against Goncharenko. He has been charged.
