Head of Chelyabinsk Duma administration detained at airport
Yuri Chanov is suspected of taking bribes.
Chelyabinsk Duma apparatus chief Yuri Chanov was detained at the airport after returning from vacation. The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against Chanov, he is charged with receiving a bribe from director of the New Art Theater Vitaly Bogaveradze for deciding to hold a festival.
Bogveradze is also come under investigation last year for receiving a bribe of 10.000 rubles ($161) from a businessman for the prolongation of contract for the execution of work, as well as for embezzling 235.000 rubles ($3800). The media reported that Bogveradze signed a plea deal and testified against Chanov.
At the moment, Chanov is detained for 48 hours before being charged. According to preliminary data, the meeting on the election of a preventive measure of restraint will be held tomorrow, May 17.

The investigators found two rifles, including one with an optical sight, seven thousand cartridges, 14 improvised explosive devices, ten grenades, 140 detonators, a rocket-propelled grenade and 14 rounds in the unfinished building.
