Head of anti-corruption Department of Sverdlovsk MIA Zarechny placed under house arrest
Ivan Balantsov was detained while receiving a bribe of 100 thousand rubles. The law enforcement officer was accused of attempted swindling by using his official position.
In the Sverdlovsk region the court put under house arrest the of the Department of Economic Security and Countering Corruption in the Sverdlovsk region of the MIA Zarechny Ivan Balantsov. Balantsov is incriminated part 3 of Art. 30 of the Criminal Code, part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (Attempted Swindling committed by a person using his official position).
As the CrimeRussia previously reported, on September 22 at Balantsov’s office a part of the bribe amounting to 100 thousand rubles was handed over - that was when the Police arrested the officer. Total amount of the bribe was to be 600 thousand rubles. For that amount, the Major Balantsov promised the Head of the branch of TCB to solve the problem, "associated with the conduct of an audit at the request of the committed crime." The official demanded to put into his company car the first tranche of a bribe. However, the banker ratted Balantsov to the Central Board of the MIA in the Sverdlovsk region.
The security official denies any involvement in the crime, and claims that he was framed.
