General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces head owns $1.6m’s worth of undeclared property
The apartments and summer houses are registered with Valery Gerasimov’s family members.
The estimated value of the property owned by the family of the head of the General Staff of the Russian Federation is between 100 and 150 million rubles, said Nastoyashcheye Vremya.
The apartment is in a residential complex in the north-west of Moscow and the dacha is about 30 kilometers away from the Moscow Ring Road. The newspaper did the math and stated that if the real estate were acquired with the official income, the Gerasimovs would have been saving for it for 30 years. If the declarations are to be believed, then the family has made a little less than 31 million rubles since 2009, provided that the general got a third of the amount in 2018. On average, the General Staff head made 2.9 million rubles a year, and his wife made 167 thousand rubles.
The apartment in Building No. 14 on Aviakonstruktora Mikoyana Street is registered in the name Valery Gerasimov’s wife. She acquired it in January 2013, as follows from the Federal Registration Service. The area of the apartment is 131.5 square meters. The date of ownership transfer is the same as the one stated in the declaration.
14 Aviakonstruktora Mikoyana is an upscale residential complex called Privat Skver. The average cost of a square meter is just above 381 thousand rubles, which means that the real estate of the General Staff head’s wife may cost about 50 million rubles.
In addition, the general owns a country house in the village of Afineevo. The real estate is much cheaper there than it is on Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway. A house with an area of 200-300 square meters and a plot of 15.000 square meters may cost about 39 million rubles.
According to the publication, Gerasimov settled here ten years ago; his land plot is 21 square meters. In 2014, he built a house with an area of 554 square meters, and after a couple of years he added a banya of 236.3 square meters, follows from the Federal Registration Service. "Russian Federation" is put in “owner”, according to Rosreestr. However, the measurements of the house, banya and site are identical to those in the declaration of the General Staff head, while Gerasimov and, probably, his wife Olga are co-founders of the Afineevo development company.
The approximate value of their country estates may range from 50 to 100 million rubles, the article suggests.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
