Former Vice-Mayor of Volgograd detained on suspicion of large-scale fraud
The suspect could control the leading suppliers of medical equipment under state contracts.
Volgograd security forces detained the former Deputy Head of the city, Sergey Biryukov, on suspicion of fraud on a large scale. As part of the investigation, the police officers searched offices of the companies NPO Medtekhgrupp LLC and Medical Technologies LLC - the main city suppliers of medical equipment under government contracts, Volgograd Online reports.
“The former official does not formally refer to companies, but is its actual head,” a law enforcement source told the publication.
A source in the health system of the Volgograd region explained that the two indicated firms did not registered in the OKED system, but they have supplied large quantities of equipment worth hundreds of millions of rubles in the last two years. At the same time, the contracts were signed with violations, and were the only participants in the auctions.
According to V1, NPO Medtekhgrupp LLC received 81 state contracts worth 121.2 million rubles, Medical Technologies LLC - 102 state contracts for 56.6 million rubles.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
