Earlier, their counterparties received conditional terms.
A court in Karachay-Cherkessia sentenced the former head of the regional EMERCOM department Kazbek Chekhov, 57, and his first deputy Arasul Urusov, 47, to probation, the press service of the republic’s Prosecutor’s Office reports. The criminal case is about swindling with government contracts and bribery.
According to investigators, in 2014, Chekhov and Urusov conspired with the CEOs of Bars-Plus LLC and Phoenix LLC, both of which are private security companies, and sent to GKU “1 detachment of the Federal Fire Service in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic” the documents with false information about the works performed for a government contract. This brought the conspirators more than a million rubles ($ 16,000).
Around the same time, Chekhov received a bribe from a former employee of FGKU 1 OFPS for KCR in the form of fire-fighting equipment and its installation. In exchange, the former head of the EMERCOM’s Main Directorate issued a license to the briber for installation, maintenance and repair of fire safety equipment in buildings.
Chekhov received 7.5 years probation with a probationary period of five years, Urusov – three years probation with a probationary period of two years. The heads of the Bars-Plus and Phoenix also received suspended sentences.
