Ex-official Anastas Orkopulo is found guilty of receiving 4,8 million rubles ($83 thousand).
The former Head of Department of transport of the Krasnodar Region is sentenced to 8,5 years over bribe taking for 4,8 million rubles ($83 thousand). Besides, the official will pay a penalty of 24,3 million rubles ($420 thousand). The press service of the Investigative Committee of the region reports about it on Friday, October 27.
As the investigation has found, the official illegally received money from a director of one of local enterprises in 2010-2014 making passenger traffic in the territory of the region. The sums varied from 50 to 100 thousand rubles (from $865 to $1730). In exchange, the official promised his “assistance to this enterprise”.
Besides, Orkopulo received 650 thousand rubles ($11 249) and allowed participation of a firm, which was not eligible, in a competition on implementation of regular passenger traffic along two routes.
The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under part 6 Art. 290, part 5, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Bribe taking by an official on a considerable scale).
The prosecutors want the former Russian Federation Council member to go to prison for 14 years instead of 9 and pay a 500-million-ruble ($8.8 million) fine instead of 70 million rubles ($1.2 million).
