Former deputy minister of Penza Region to appear before court
The former official is accused of bribery and swindling.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Penza Region approved the indictment against the former deputy of industry, transport and innovation policy of the region, Aleksey Antipov, who was accused of bribery (para. 3 of Article 290 CCRF) and swindling (para. 3 of Article 159 CCRF). The criminal case will be considered in the Leninsky District Court, the supervisory authority said.
On October 31, 2018, Aristov was detained while receiving a bribe of 100.000 rubles ($ 1.500) from a local entrepreneur for his help in obtaining a government contract for passenger transportation. As the investigation later found out, in the period from October 1, 2017 to September 12, 2018, Aristov received from 27.000 to 31.000 rubles from the given entrepreneur, in total – about 346.000 rubles ($ 5300). The official promised the latter to resolve the issue of future inspections by state road supervision body, and help avoid punishment if any violations would be identified.
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
