Former deputy head of traffic police in Obninsk to be tried
The ex-policeman received a bribe and ordered his subordinates not to detain a traffic violator.
The prosecutor's office of the Kaluga region approved the indictment in a criminal case against the former deputy head of the traffic police in Obninsk. According to the investigation, the 50-year-old ex-policeman received a bribe (part 1 of article 291.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and abused official authority (part 1 of article 285 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation), providing protection to a traffic offender.
In February 2018, the accused escorted heavy equipment with an oversized load, an excavator, transported without special permission. Having received a bribe, the police officer ordered policemen not to bring the driver to administrative responsibility.
In the same month, the deputy head of the traffic police defended his son from administrative charges, who had transported large-size cargo without a special permit.
The criminal case was investigated by the regional management of the Investigative Committee.
