Fixer Gor Chudopalov rats out failed Dagestani Minister of Internal Affairs
Magomed Khizriev, who wanted to become Minister of Internal Affairs of the republic for $ 6 million, is charged with final wording.
Magomed Khizriev, the former Head of the operational-investigative unit of the Dagestan Interior Ministry BIA, who wanted to become Interior Minister for 6 million dollars, is charged with the final wording of the crime under part 1 of Art. 30 and part 5 of Art. 291 of the Criminal Code (Preparation for Bribery on a large scale). A year after the arrest, the Investigation Committee of Russia completed the investigation of a high-profile criminal case, Kommersant reports.
Lawyer Luiza Merzhoeva, certain Alexey Syzdykov, and fixer Gor Chudopalov, who is called the Colonel's friend, are in Khizriev’s case. They were accused of Mediation of Bribery (part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and Attempted large-scale Swindling (Article 30, part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Gor Chudopalov ratted out the failed Interior Ministry. According to some reports, the fixer said that Colonel Khizriev was supposed to get an appointment for an enormous reward.
Fixer Chudopalov also goes on trial in several criminal cases. In particular, Ukrainian businessman Pavel Klimets and the director general of his alcohol company Olympus, Yulia Samoilova, tried to regain control over their assets in the Crimea but were eventually arrested for giving a bribe in Moscow. Mr. Chudopalov, who admitted his guilt, was transferred under house arrest, but the Prosecutor General’s Office did not enter into a pre-trial cooperation agreement with him; therefore, his criminal prosecution was not separated.
Magomed Khizriev, the Head of the operational-investigative unit of Dagestan’s BIA, was detained on June 5, 2018, in Moscow, trying to decide on his appointment to the post of Interior Minister for a $ 1 million bribe. The total amount of the bribe was $6 million, and it was transferred through a long chain of intermediaries. He wanted to clean up his dossier, some points of which prevented him from taking office.
According to lawyer of Colonel Khizriev Aida Kasimova, her client could not qualify for the post of Interior Minister of the Republic. It was necessary to be in the personnel reserve of the President, and the Colonel was not included in it from 2016, although he kept numerous awards and incentives.
After the arrest, he said that provocation had been organized against him since he was in the federal personnel reserve for appointment to a higher position. If real, he would have received the post without any bribes. According to the Colonel, he does not have such sources of income to pay a bribe of $6 million.
