Federal judge detained in Togliatti while receiving a bribe
The suspect allegedly demanded more than $ 15,000 for rendering a certain decision.
In the city of Togliatti, the Samara Region, law enforcement officers detained federal judge Ivan Yezhov upon receiving a bribe. The latter allegedly demanded over a million rubles ($ 15,000) for rendering a court decision favorable to the bribe giver. The operatives detained the suspect after the first part of the bribe was transferred to him, the State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein reported.
“Yesterday, late in the evening, federal judge of the Avtozavodsky District Court of Togliatti Ivan Yezhov was detained while receiving a bribe. For rendering a decision, he demanded 1.1 million rubles ($ 16,000), but was taken with the first tranche of 550,000 ($ 8,000). The regional court sanctioned the operative measures,” the deputy wrote on Twitter.
As Khinstein clarified in the comments to the post, Yezhov faces up to 10 years in prison.
