Ex-wife of one of officers in case over Defense Ministry record bribe discloses his cookie jars
A woman found a correspondence with businessmen who sent the Defense Ministry proposals that interested them in her husband's phone.
The former wife of Alexey Grinyuk, the head of the Department for Ensuring the State Defense Order, who was in charge of procurement in the interests of the rear troops of the Ministry of Defense, told investigators about the money cache in the refrigerator and on the balcony. As Kommersant reports, the woman said that the pack with five thousand bank notes was hidden in the door of the fridge. He also put a part of the money in the cavity between the windowsill and the wall on the balcony, then pouring it over with the mounting foam.
She learned that her husband was a bribe-taker when found a correspondence with businessmen who sent the Defense Ministry proposals that interested them, copies of letters and contracts in her husband's phone. At the same time, he beat her when caught her in.
At the same time, according to the lawyer of the Defense Ministry official, he insists that the ex-spouse defamed his client because of personal hostile attitudes. And the money, about which she told, was not the secret.
Recall that Alexey Grinyuk who was in charge of tenders for the Defense Ministry was detained in November 2017 within the investigation of a criminal case on a record bribe in the history of the military department - 648 million rubles ($9.3m). He is accused of committing crimes under part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code and part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Swindling on an especially large scale and Bribe-Taking).
Investigators found that entrepreneur Alexey Kalitin concluded about 40 contracts with the Ministry of Defense for a total of more than 5 billion rubles ($71.8m) through the commercial structures controlled by him from 2014 to 2017. He admitted his guilt and gave testimony to the officers of the military department. Due to the evidence of Kalitin, Colonel Alexander Berezhnoy, the chief of the department, was arrested, his subordinates - the chief of the technical support department, Colonel Alexander Vakulin, the chief expert of the department, Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Grinyuk, the head of the auction commission of the military department, civil servant Alexander Borukkov, the head of the competitive procedures department under the state order of the public procurement department of the Defense Ministry Yuri Reshetnikov and several intermediary businessmen, were also arrested.
