Ex-Head of Sakhalin not challenge seizure of property at 1 billion rubles
The Presidium of the Sakhalin Regional Court dismissed the appeal of the Alexander Khoroshavin's protection. The lawyers tried to challenge the transfer of his property to the state.
The cassation appeal filed by former Governor of the Sakhalin region Alexander Khoroshavin on the decision to withdraw all his property in profit of the state was rejected. RBC reports it referring to the lawyer of the official's family Ivan Mironov.
According to the lawyer, he did not receive a justification for such a decision from the court.
Earlier it was reported that police officers confiscated property worth over 74 million rubles from the family of Khoroshavin.
In September of 2016 the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court decided to satisfy the claim of the Prosecutor General and withdraw Khoroshavin’s family property for a total of 1.1 billion rubles in favor of the state. The ex-Governor is under investigation on suspicion of several counts of bribery from March 2015.
In mid-July, thief in law Vitya Pan, as well as his accomplices Evgeny Titov aka Tit and Yaroslav Sokolov (aka Yarik) were declared federally wanted. Depending on their role in the commission of the crime, the defendants are suspected of creation of a crime community and participation therein (parts 1 and 2 of Art. 210 of the Russian Criminal Code), as well as of kidnapping and tortures.
