Ex-head of Federal Tax Service confessed to receiving a bribe of $16.5k

Ex-Director of the Vladimir branch of the Federal Tax Service, Sergey Koshelev, pleaded guilty in taking a bribe. This is reported by the official website of the Russian Investigative Committee in the Vladimir region.

Investigators found out that Koshelev promised a local businessman to ignore the violations found during inspections by specialists of the department in exchange for bribes. According to preliminary data, he received a total of 1.1 million rubles ($16,594), as well as jewelry. In January 2018, a criminal case under Bribe-Taking on an Especially Large Scale was initiated against Koshelev. He was placed under house arrest.

Before his arrest, Koshelev also worked in the government of the Vladimir region. The former head of the tax ministry worked on the development of entrepreneurship, trade, and services in the region.
