Ex-Director of Industry Ministry arrested in Khabarovsk
The former official is accused of accepting bribes for 78 million rubles.
Former Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vladimir Potapkin delivered from Moscow to Khabarovsk is arrested on charges of accepting bribes iao more than 78 million rubles. According to investigators, the ex-official received the money from Alexander Pudovkin, the president of Asia Forest LLC, through the organization’s accounts and an intermediary “for patronage in the form of unobstructed social receipt of subsidies through the Ministry of Industry and Trade,” the ICR press service reports.
Potapkin allegedly received bribes from 2016 to 2019. Back in February 2019, he was listed as an employee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Alleged bribe-giver Pudovkin and former First Deputy Prime Minister of the Khabarovsk Territory Vasily Shikhalev, who were charged with causing damage to the region for 10 billion rubles, are also defendants within the case. In addition to the illegal receipt of state subsidies, Asia Forest illegally fell down the forest on rented land on preferential terms.
