Ex-Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and Oboronservis investigation defendant Vasilyeva get married
Andrey Malakhov, the Starkhit Chief Editor and a TV personality, reported on the wedding.
Anatoly Serdyukov, a former Defence Minister, and Evgeniya Vasilyeva, a former head of the Property Relations Department, married. They both had gotten involved in a 2012 corruption scandal.
StarHit's Andrey Malakhov reported this. It is worth mentioning that Malakhov did not publish any proof on his Instagram page. Serdyukov's biography is available on the Rostec website; he is married and has two children.
Malakhov jokes that he is worried about the newlywed since he had left his Tom Ford tie in Vasilyeva's apartment after an interview. “If Serdyukov sees a tie among women's handbags he ought not to worry,” Malakhov said.
Let us remind you that Evgeniya Vasilyeva was a suspect in the Oboronservis embezzlement investigation. Investigators estimate that the underpricing caused 3b rubles ($48.1m) worth of damage. Vasilyeva was partially acquitted but still was given a 5-year custodial sentence and a fine. However, she spent less than a month in prison and was released on parole in August.
Anatoly Serdyukov was the Defence Minister from February 2007 to November 2012. He had to step down due to the corruption scandal despite being just a witness in the Oboronservis investigation. The police began investigating Serdyukov for negligence in 2013. However, he was pardoned in February 2014 since it was the 20th anniversary of the Russian Constitution.
Serdyukov became the Rostec deputy CEO in 2014. He became the Rostec Aviation Facility industry director in 2015. He became a Rostec manager in 2016. Serdyukov became a member of the board of directors of Tsentromashproekt in February 2017. Tsentromashproekt specializes in modifications and robotics. He became a member of the board of directors of KamAZ in June.
Evgeniya Vasilyeva, his former subordinate, entered the Moscow State University Arts Department and went into the jewelry business after her parole was over. However, the media reported that she made the bulk of the money renting out a 642.7 sqm real estate in downtown Moscow.
In June 2017, Vasilyeva was reported to have become the secretary of the Condominium Partnership located on the Molochny Pereulok Street; she lived there in a 13-room apartment while on parole. Anatoly Serdyukov is reportedly the head of the Condominium Partnership.
Anatoly Serdyukov doubled the Condominium Partnership residents utility tariffs, Mash reported via Telegram in May 2018. However, it did not affect Vasilyeva.
Initially, the defendants in the case had been charged with embezzlement through swindling in the amount of 225 million rubles ($3.3 million). In the final version of the indictment, the article was changed to 1.5-billion-ruble ($22.45 million) embezzlement.
