Deputy heads of the Moscow MIA Department and two of his subordinates detained in bribery case
The police officers extorted money for non-initiation of a criminal case.
Yury Shcheglov, the deputy chief of the Moscow MIA Department for the Mitino District, investigator M. Rodionov and the Department’s criminal investigation officer P. Ilyin were detained, Interfax reports, referring to the press service of Moscow’s Presnensky Court. The criminal case of a large bribe (part 6 of Article 290 CCRF) also mentions lawyer Daniil Filatov and individual entrepreneur B. Dadashov.
The Presnensky District Court is planning to consider the investigation’s petition for the arrest of the defendants on Wednesday, July 3. The court’s press service clarified that charges were brought against Shcheglov and Filatov, while the other three are in the status of suspects. The press service of the Moscow police added that the officers had been detained while receiving a bribe from a suspect of theft.
According to Mitino.ru, the victims of the theft case are relatives of a famous TV host. In June, the suspect handed over 2.79 million rubles ($ 44,000) to the police officers for non-initiation of a criminal case, but another 2.3 million rubles ($ 36,000) were demanded from him, MK writes. The briber turned to the Moscow police’s Internal Security Service and, under the supervision of the security forces, handed over a dummy of the agreed amount to the bribe takers. After the transaction was completed, the policemen were detained.
