Deputy head of the Rostekhnadzor management department arrested for taking bribes in money and Mercedes
The official forced an oil-producing company to conclude an agreement with the necessary company and received a commission from the contract.
Deputy head of the department for supervision in the oil and gas industry of the Rostecknadzor regional department Oleg Khromushkin, 56, was arrested in Bashkortostan. Khromushkin accused of accepting bribes in cash and a Mercedes car, the official ICR representative Svetlana Petrenko reported.
According to the investigators, Khromushkin learned about the problems of an oil company that could not agree with the management of Rostekhnadzor on mining development plans, and agreed with the director of the project organization to act as a contractor, and then share the money received under the contract. Khromushkin, told the representative of the oil company that he would receive the necessary approval if a certain organization he indicates would design the mining plans.
The two companies entered into an agreement worth more than 55 million rubles ($ 862,000). For a part of the funds, the design organization bought Khromushkin a Mercedes worth over 4 million rubles ($ 62,000), and also gave the official a million ($ 16,000) in cash.
The oil company was told that it was necessary to conclude another contract for 25 million rubles ($ 392,000). The bribe-giver turned to the FSB. Under their control, he met with intermediaries, who were immediately detained. Then Khromushkin was also detained while being handed over 23.5 million rubles ($ 368,000). During the searches of in the official’s place of residence and office, the investigators found evidence that Khromushkin received bribes.
