Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Directorate in the Samara region, Denis Shmatov, has been detained on suspicion of taking a bribe. This is reported by deputy Aleksandr Khinshteyn via his Twitter account.

“Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Main Directorate in the Samara region, Denis Shmatov, was detained red-handed when receiving a bribe of 520 thousand rubles ($8,250),” Khinshteyn wrote.

Law enforcers have yet to comment on this information.

Internal Service Colonel Denis Shmatov has been first deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Directorate in the Samara region since 2016. Earlier, he was head of the Internal Security Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service Main Directorate in the Samara region.
