Deputy head of Irkutsk Regional Court detained for bribe, 8 judges resigned
In the Irkutsk region a scandal connected with information about the arrest of deputy chairman of the administrative court Nikolay Novokreshchenov due to $134.155-bribe-taking runs high; Sergey Shishkin, an adviser to the region's Governor, mentioned it on the radio interview. D.Sci.Jus., Professor of Law, Adviser to the Governor of the Irkutsk region Sergey Shishkin reported on the detention of deputy chairman of the Irkutsk Regional Court Nikolay Novokreshchenov and the resignation of eight more judges on the air of the radio Komsomolskaya Pravda in Irkutsk, emphasizing that the information is so far unofficial.
According to the Governor's adviser, Novokreschenov was detained for a bribe of 8 million rubles ($134.155).
On the same day, the press service of the Irkutsk Regional Court issued an official refutation in the local media, noting that Novokreschenov had applied for resignation at his own request since November 27, but was not detained at the same time. In addition, the press service denied the dismissal of other judges. The ICR of the Irkutsk region did not confirmed information about the detention of Nikolay Novokreschenov.
Irkutsk journalist Dmitry Navodnikov, accusing Shishkin of incompetence, said that it is impossible to detain a person in the status of a judge under the laws of the Russian Federation, unless the decision to detain him was taken by the Judges Supreme Qualification Collegium on the proposal of the Russian Prosecutor General. And according to the press service of the Regional Court, on November 20 the Judges Supreme Qualification Collegium will consider the issue of Novokreschenov's resignation on November 20.

The source of the Babr newspaper in the security services also confirmed this information, adding that the detention of Nikolay Novokreschenov was sanctioned by the Supreme Court.
