Deputy from Millerovo gets suspended sentence for bribing investigator
The people’s deputy tried to protect her son from prosecution.
In Millerovo, a member of the urban settlement’s Assembly of Deputies Elena Demina has received a suspended sentence for giving a bribe. The court found that in December 2017, pensioner Demina have a police investigator 15 thousand rubles ($217) for termination of a criminal case against her son.
The investigator of the Department of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs acted in the framework of the operational-search event “Operational Experiment.” The deputy was detained after transferring the money.
The Millerovo District Court found Elena Demina guilty and sentenced her to 2 years of imprisonment with a suspended prison sentence of two years and a fine of 15 thousand rubles. According to the Rostov Regional Prosecutor's Office, the sentence has not yet entered into force.
