Deputy director of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport convicted of bribery
Now he has to pay a fine of 1.8 million rubles ($31.300).
Deputy general director for the construction of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport JSC Mikhail Kazantsev is sentenced for Bribe-Taking (Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The decision was made by the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court, which considered that the evidence presented is sufficient. He is sentenced to a fine of 1.8 million rubles and a prohibition on holding executive positions in municipal and state institutions, companies and enterprises for 5 years.
According to the investigation, Kazantsev received a bribe in the amount of 750 thousand rubles ($13.020) in 2016 through an intermediary. The deputy director demanded money from his contractor for signing the acts and certificates on the cost of the completed construction work. The man received money partly since 2016.
As reported by the Far Eastern Investigation Department on the Transport ICR, the verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
Recall, Mikhail Kazantsev was detained in December 2016 by FSB officers. Then a criminal case was initiated against him under Swindling (part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code).
"As a result of the operational-search activities conducted by the FSB officers in the region, the facts of obtaining illegal monetary compensation were revealed," the Ministry commented.
